Simply Audiobooks

Slow, slow, slow shipping and processing. They love to quote 2 -5 business days to receive a shipment. In 18 months all of my CD's have arrived in no less than 7 days. And returning them is worse - a minimum of 9 days. For the prices they charge for 2 books at a time - not a good value. And if something doesn't show up (receiving or returning) they will not ship you a replacement until after the 10th business day.

Simply Audiobooks claims to be the Netflix of the audiobook rental world offering unlimited rentals with four different monthly plans (or annual plans for a $$ savings). The plans are advertised as ONE book at a time, TWO books at a time, THREE books at a time, or FOUR books at a time. After purchasing the two books at a time annual gift certificate as a Christmas present for my husband we soon realized TWO at a time doesn't really mean two. It means my husband is trekking to the library to rent audiobooks again because Simply Audiobooks sends ONE book with shipping time being about one week, then you return the book (another 7 days gone down the tube), your second book arrives, and you NEVER have TWO at a time. In fact, you will go days without ANY books while you wait for their slow processing. Customer service calls garner you promises at first but as soon as you call to cancel the account you find the "friendly" customer service not so friendly. Though their "Sign Up Now" page states you can "cancel at anytime, even on our prepaid plans, and receive a refund for unused months of service", you'll be terribly unhappy & a bit poorer if you choose to purchase a prepaid gift card for a loved one because as it turns out THOSE are not refundable. Too bad that isn't stated on the signup page. This has been a very unsatisfactory experience with a company that has misleading advertising and poor customer service.
